Be My Galentine

Wednesday, February 07, 2018

Galantine's Day is now my new favorite holiday! For this celebration, I hosted a brunch complete with mimosas, heart shaped waffles and a flower bar!

To set the scene, I started with the flower bar. I found the love balloon on Etsy and used that as my inspiration do this setup. I ordered a couple different types of roses from my local wholesale flower shop as well as eucalyptus to add some greenery. I used different size vases that I already had on hand and cut 12"x12" pieces of kraft and wax paper to wrap the bouquets with. I am somewhat of a ribbon hoarder, so I placed a bunch of precut strips into a basket. I love the idea of a bouquet bar because it not only acts as decor, but it's also a fun activity as well as something to take home with you!

You can't host a good brunch without a little booze and yummy food! I chose to do a mimosa bar because it is super simple. The pink wine glasses from Anthro are all the things and are perfect for the occasion! Two of my gals are expecting so I made sure to have a bottle of alcohol free champagne and the rest of us sipped on sparkling wine and rosé with a choice of orange juice, raspberry lemonade or pineapple juice.

Now onto the food. Any Valentine's Day meal should include heart shaped waffles with all the fixings. We had fruit, chocolate chips and my homemade whipped cream. My mom made her famous egg dish, we had bacon and yogurt and then my personal fav, pink donuts with edible gold leaf. I'm not to going to lie, I didn't make the donuts from scratch but I did make the icing and added the gold leaf so they are basically homemade right?!

I had so much fun putting this day together for my friends and I hope this inspires you to host a Galentine's soirée of your own!
