Snow Globe Place Card Holders

Saturday, December 20, 2014

I have to say when it comes to Christmas I usual get started with all my decorative projects as soon as the calendar hits November. A little early I know but I always feel so accomplished by Thanksgiving when most of Christmas projects are complete or nearly complete. But this year, I have to admit that has not been the case. Everything has been so last minute which is so not like me. I finally got around to making these snow globe place card holders for Christmas dinner. This project was really simple and the best part, super inexpensive!

Supplies

  • Glass Bottles with Cork Top
  • Snow
  • Bottle Brush Trees
  • Wire
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Funnel
  • Card Stock for Place Cards
You can find all of the above supplies at your local craft store. I found these bottles at Hobby Lobby and I got them when they had their 50% off glass sale which they do pretty regularly so they were only $1 each {score}!

Step One: Add a drop of hot glue to the base of the tree or figurine of your choice and place inside the bottle and press firmly until the glue dries.

Step Two: using the funnel, add snow until the base of the tree is covered.

Step Three: Using the funnel as a guide, wrap the wire around a couple times to form the holder for the place card. Make sure when you cut the wire, leave enough to be able to stick into the cork.

Step Four: I used my Silhouette Cameo to create the place cards. I selected the shape I wanted and cut it out on my black chalkboard card stock. I originally tried to use the sketch pens to add the names but for the life of me I couldn't get them to work, total FAIL on my part. So instead I used my chalkboard pencils to write the names. They didn't turn out exactly how I pictured in my head, but sometimes that is just the way it is :) Here is the finished product and I cannot wait to use them next week!

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and thanks for reading!
